BUNION PAIN TREATMENT
& RELIEF

ARUNDEL, GOLD COAST

Bunions are a real problem. They affect the shoes we wear and the activities we do. Pain can be debilitating and prevent an active lifestyle.

But what can be done about them?

What is an effective bunion treatment?

How To Treat Your Bunions

In order to treat bunions and bunion pain first we need to know the cause of the bunion.

A bunion is usually a secondary subluxation or joint misalignment. When other joints in the foot are out of alignment they prevent the big toe from moving up and down correctly. This forces the toe sideways into the smaller toes. The bunion lump develops and gets bigger the more the big toe moves sideways.

As the bunion gets worse it pushes into the smaller toes which can result in deformity of these toes. This can result in hammer toes, claw toes and mallet toes.

Bunions can start in young children or in adulthood. The sooner we start the bunion treatment the better the chance of avoiding bunion surgery.

As we get older the bunion becomes less flexible and more painful. By starting the bunion treatment as early as possible we can prevent the bunion from getting bigger and more painful.

HAVE YOU BEEN TOLD YOU NEED BUNION SURGERY?

DO YOU WANT TO AVOID BUNION SURGERY?

Bunions can be uncomfortable and painful. They can prevent us wearing certain shoes and they can prevent certain activities. They can make us self-conscious about showing our feet in public.

You might have been told the only way to treat the problem is with bunion surgery.

You might have tried a number of different podiatry treatments, like orthotics, but you still have bunion pain and the bunions are getting bigger.

In order to avoid bunion surgery, first you need to know what caused the bunion to develop.

When the feet are misaligned this can cause too much pressure into the big toe joint. When the big toe cant go up and down correctly it is forced to go sideways which results in the bunion lump.

By realigning the joints in the feet the big toe can function better and the pain can recede.

If your goal is to avoid bunion surgery then call to see if our podiatry treatment is right for you.

AVOID PAIN AFTER SURGERY

HAD BUNION SURGERY BUT STILL HAVE PAIN?

DO YOU STILL HAVE BUNION PAIN AFTER BUNION SURGERY?

We have seen a number of clients after bunion surgery.

Sometimes the surgery is a complete success. But unfortunately, we see a number of clients where the bunion surgery has not been successful. They still have bunion pain and now they have to compensate in other areas which have become painful.

When the joints in the feet are misaligned this leads to bunion development, which can lead to fusing the big toe or removing the bunion.

However, if the underlying cause is not addressed then the bony lump can grow back after it has been removed.

Or worse, other areas in the body can start to hurt. If the big toe is fused it can not function the way it is meant. This can result in ankle pain, knee pain or hip pain as we have to alter the way we walk.

If you still have bunion pain after bunion surgery make an appointment with one of our experienced practitioners who treat the underlying cause of the bunion pain to prevent you needing more bunion surgery.
